Pet Insurance
Well all know that the cost of keeping a pet includes vaccinations and
boosters, checkups etc., and that this can cost hundreds of pounds per
year.
But did you know that
the cost of surgery can run into thousands of pounds? Would you be able
to foot the bill for major surgery should your pet fall ill, or the cost
of a claim against you if your dogs runs out into the road causing a road
traffic accoident? Pet insurance can usually be purchased for under £10
per pet (obviously a horse will cost more than a cat!) and can give you
the piece of mind that you are covered against unexpected bills.

now offer pet insurance as part of their portfolio of insurance products.
You can even get pet insurance from your supermarket chain these days!
So what
does pet insurance actually cover?
There may be more things related to your pet that you need to cover than
you would think.
Holiday Cancellation
What if your pet became very ill or even passed away just before you were
to go on holiday. It would probably be too late to cancel your holiday
and receive a refund. Some pet insurance policies will cover loss due
to holiday cancellation/curtailment
Hospitalisation of owner
If the pet owner is hospitalised, some insurance policies will cover boarding
costs if you have to go into hospital for more than a certain number of
days..
Theft or straying
If your pet is stolen or gets lost, your policy may cover the costs for
advertising and a reward.
Accidental death/loss of pet
If you lose your pet through theft, straying or death through accidental
injury your policy may reimburse the cost of the pet.
Third Party Liability
Many people don't realise that the pet owner could become liable should
their pet cause injury to a third party or damage to their property (this
may only be applicable to dogs though). Legal liability insurance within
the pet insurance could cover this liability.
Cover Abroad
You may need extra cover should your pet travel with you abroad (assuming
that your pet is legally entitled to travel with you).
This could cover quarantine costs, loss of health certificate, emergency
expenses whilst abroad etc.

I get cheap pet insurance?
There are many places
where you can get your pet insurance these days. From the supermarkets
who have entered the pet insurance arena to the established insurers who
offer pet protection as part of their portfolio of insurance products.
